Australia is home to a wide variety timber species, we have some of the heaviest, hardest, most interesting timbers available. Suitable for any job necessary.

My mission is to locally make furniture, utilizing australian timbers. Reducing the environmental impacts of imported fast furniture.

  • Silvertop Ash

    Eucalyptus sieberi
    • Varying from pale-warm browns/oranges. With plenty of gumveins, ambrosia beetle marks, and pin holes.
    • Can be sourced from recycled buildings or new from PEFC certified suppliers.

    Acacia melanoxylon

    • Blackwood has Brown - Redish tones, bringing a rich, warm feel to any piece
    • Can be sourced as slabs from fallen trees or purcased new from PEFC certified suppliers

    Eucalpytus obliqua
    • Messmate is known for being highly featured, with large gum viens, nail holes being common
    • Sourced from demolished buildings.

  • Victorian Ash/Tasmanian Oak

    Eucalyptus Regnans/Eucalyptus Delegatensis
    • These timbers are synonymous with having straight grains with small gum viens throughout.
    • Light in colour and weight.
    • Can be sourced from recycled buildings or new from PEFC certified suppliers.

    Eucalyptus Pilularis
    • Blackbutt varies from golden yellow to pale brown, with hints of pink.
    • Extremely durable and hard wearing, suitable to internal and external uses.

    • Rich deep Red tones, with swirling grain and fiddle.

When thinking of using American timbers we need to consider the environmental impacts of transporting timber around the world, compared to the beautiful timbers we can find in our own backyard.

  • American Hard Maple

    Acer saccharum, Acer nigrum
    • Creamy white with a slight Reddish Brown tone
    • Eastern USA. A cold weather tree favouring a more northerly climate.
  • American Black Walnut

    Juglans nigra

    • Light brown to dark chocolate brown, occasionally with a purplish cast and darker streaks
    • Central/Eastern USA.
  • American Oak

    • Light-Warm Yellow/Brown tones
    • Known for its large distinctive growth rings and course grain
    • Stains and paints well due to strong grain pattern
    • Northern USA
